Louisiana Flood Victim Enjoys Change in Fortune After Winning $1Mil Lottery

“Sometimes the blessings are not in what god gives, but in what he takes away. Blessings In disguise.”

A 72-year-old Louisiana Victim, James Lapeze from the city of central recently won a $1 million Powerball Prize. The fortuitous win comes after Lapeze’s house was damaged in August’s floods that left at least 13 dead and damaged about 40,000 homes.

Shocked over his good fortune Lapeze said “I checked my numbers over and over again,” said Lapeze when he realized he possessed a winning ticket. “I even had my wife check them because I really couldn’t believe that I won!”

He plays lottery every year and won from an Oct 1 lottery drawing. He’ll end up with a total of $700,000 in winnings after taxes to pay off his home and retire

Romero’s Food Mart, a small corner store that sold the ticket in Central, Louisiana, even got to share in the good fortune by receiving a 1% cut of the prize equal to $10,000.
